Take the time to "Tune In"

Today I wanted to blog about something that is crucial to being an effective missionary, and also crucial to be able to follow the Lord's plan for us- and that is the importance of being "in tune" with the Holy Ghost.
1 Nephi 10:19 says this about the Holy Ghost..." For he that diligently aseeketh shall find; and the bmysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the cHoly Ghost, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the dcourse of the Lord is one eternal round."
I love this scripture because it teaches us an important truth. It teaches us that the mysteries of God are revealed through the Holy Ghost. It teaches that the course of the Lord is one eternal round. But it also teaches something else very important and that is the way that we are able to receive answers...we must seek diligently!
Seeking the Holy Ghost is so important because, like with many aspects of the gospel, it requires faith to receive, and act on the answers we receive.  It is not something that will just come to us without any effort put forth on our parts. We must be obedient in keeping the commandments. We must be studying, not just reading, our scriptures. We must be worthy to have the Holy Ghost reside with us. We must have faith that we will receive an answer that is coming directly from the Lord. In short, we must be doing all the things that keep our hearts and minds in tune with the Spirit of God.
It is important to realize though, that if our "spiritual radio" gets a little out of tune, or goes to the wrong channel, we can always tune back in to the Holy Ghost with a little effort on our part. In fact, that is one of my favorite things about the gospel. If we want it, Heavenly Father will give it to us. All it requires is effort on our parts to show Him that we are truly ready to receive the blessings he has in store for us. It is NEVER too late for someone to get on the right track. Our Heavenly Father is so forgiving and loving- He will never turn us away if we come to him with willing hearts, open to change. That is the miracle and gift of the atonement. Jesus Christ paid the price for all of our mistakes and for all the times that we get off track. But we can always get back up and try again.
I love this Mormon Message video- it teaches clearly the importance of being in tune with the Holy Ghost.

I have a testimony of the importance of having the Holy Ghost as our constant companion. We need His guidance to make it back to live with our Heavenly Father. As we strive to live worthily to have it  in our lives, we will be blessed. Blessed to be able to endure trials. Blessed to be able to stand strong in a world with decaying morals. Blessed to know with a surety that we can receive direct answers and guidance from God.
I love each of you, you are all blessed and loved children of God.
In the name of Jesus Christ,

Amen
